Hello friends. Here's another layout I created with more fab cardstock from Core'dinations. I love that Core'dinations card stock is heavy and perfect for my base. With so many beautiful colors to choose from I always find one that works for my layouts. For this layout I used the Ebony & Ivory mix along with Imaginisce's To Love & Cherish.

Bride
Supplies: Core'dinations Ebony & Ivory cardstock, Imaginisce To Love & Cherish, Cricut Elegant Cakes cartridge

I love embossing my Core'dinations cardstock and sanding it just a bit. I also enjoy layering my embellies and adding pop dots for dimension.

Have a great night!

Lots of color with a bit of Core

Good morning! This week I have some fun things in store for you. Imaginisce has teamed up with Core'dinations and we'll be showcasing some projects all week long on both our creative blogs using their fantastic color core cardstock and our newest Imaginisce lines for you.

What's eve better is that you have a chance to win not one but two fabulous prize packs from both Imaginisce and Core'dinations! Visit both blogs to find out all the deets on how you can win!

One of my favorite things to do with Core'dinations cardstock is to emboss it in my Cuttlebug and then sand it so that the core comes thru. I love this distressed look for my projects and it's a fast and easy technique to execute. Here's a card I created with Imaginisce's new Splash Dance line and the technique I mentioned above.

Supplies: Core'dinations Ebony & Ivory, Imaginisce Splash Dance patterned paper and chipboard accents, Imaginisce i-rock tool and bling

Stay tuned for more fabulous projects this week using Core'dinations and be sure and visit our Design Team's blogs to see what they created with their Core'dinations cardstock!

Dear Blog...

Thursday, May 20, 2010

I've missed you! I haven't meant not to blog for over a week it's just that I went to Utah, I'm decorating my scrap space and I've rediscovered my Cricut since my Slice is having issues.
I finally had time to sit down to read up on my Google Reader and found that one of my favorite manufacturer's is hosting a sketch challenge at the Crate Paper blog. Oh how I love Crate Paper products. Their quality is second to none. Here's the sketch that is posted for this challenge

And here's my take on the sketch using the new Paper Dolls line and a Hero Arts sentiment.

Next month's Paper Posies reveal is almost here so I'll share a little sneak of the altered project I did. I'll be posting more from the June kit very soon so stay tuned

And finally I want to share a couple shots I got on the plane to Utah last Friday

So pretty flying above the clouds.

It was a short flight thankfully and everyone was so chatty. I think it was the happiest flight I had ever been on. Strangers were talking to one another, there was a family coming home from Disneyland and the kids all had these cute Goofy hats on. The best part of the trip for me was seeing my best friend and her beautiful children. So glad we were able to meet up and spend some time together during my short trip.
I am glad I am staying home this weekend with my own family. Hope you enjoy yours!

Very vintage today...

Wednesday, May 12, 2010

Hello friends and happy Wednesday. I love Wednesdays because we're halfway to the weekend and it's usually the day I can find time to create some cards with a few of my favorite sketch challenges. My first card is for the 2Sketches4You challenge. I loved this sketch by Kazan because I knew exactly which of my border punches I wanted to use. Here's her fab sketch

And my take with some yummy GCD Studios, Prima and Hero Arts stamps

Next I played along with Mojo Monday's sketch

Here's my take with some October Afternoon, Japanese Masking Tape, Making Memories button and Hero Arts sentiment

I was inspired by the 3 strips of long paper in the sketch to create a banner with the masking tape instead. I love this stuff! It has postage stamps on the whole roll. Very vintage :)

Speaking of vintage, here is a peek of more of my new masking tapes in my studio. I am going for a vintage feel in my studio and picked up a cute wire dress form and a lamp wall decor with bling!

Here's a closer look a the yummy tapes, I'm in heaven!

Since I work from home I get to spend a lot of time with my daughter and I am so thankful we get to share so much time together. I love how she peeks over the "puter" as she calls it and says "hello mommy, it's me Lily" I'm a lucky mom...

Happy Mother's Day 2010

Sunday, May 9, 2010

Hello friends! I want to wish you all a very Happy Mother's Day but most of all I want to wish my Mom a very special Happy Mother's Day. As I watched my kids play together at the park today I was thinking about my own Mom. Not just about how much I miss her but mostly about how lucky I am that she has always been a part of all the best things in my life. She was there when I gave birth to both of my children and I am so thankful that we will always share that memory together. Even though my Mom lives far away she is in my heart and I carry her with me everywhere I go.
Today my son made me a card for Mother's day that made me laugh out loud...I love that. Today my husband let me sleep in, made me coffee and breakfast and we took the kids to the park and watched them play.
Here's some pics we snapped while we were there

I am so thankful that I have the privilege to be their Mom. They make me strive to be a better person. I wouldn't be the Mom I am tho if it weren't for the love and encouragement I get from my own Mom. I love you so much Mom! Happy Mother's Day!!

An honest days work

Friday, May 7, 2010

There is something to be said for an honest days work. I am so beat right now, tired beyond tired and my arms are like jello but I have such a sense of pride in myself that no amount of money could even buy. My life has been hectic lately and I have struggled with balance for months but today I finally feel that I took my first step to finally making a change.
Over the past few months I set out to change but I fall back into old patterns and find myself frustrated over and over again. One of the areas I am most struggling in is my home. To be quite frank, it's been a mess. Lucky for me I don't have guests very often so I've been able to cover my secret well.
And then yesterday morning I was sitting here thinking about how overwhelmed I was and I happened to look out into our backyard only it wasn't a backyard, it was a jungle. I know you might be chuckling because you think I'm just being funny but no...I am serious.
Then it hit me like a ton of bricks. My backyard was a total symbol of where my life was right this moment...total chaos. Weeds overgrown everywhere, toys strewn all over, spider webs growing in my daughter's playhouse and things out of place or piled here and there.
I just sat on the couch feeling sorry for myself and then there was a knock at my door. It was my super sweet neighbor Victoria. She had come to bring me back a container of Lily's clothing I had given her to sift through and take whatever she wanted for her sweet baby girl who is 6 months.
We started talking and she noticed I looked a little stressed and so I shared with her my realization. She looked at me and then looked out our window at the backyard and said "well then let's get it cleaned up so you can enjoy it"
She offered to come over and help me clean up that back yard. I was embarrassed at first and then it totally hit me. God was answering my prayers. Yes I have been praying about my life a lot and asking God to show me the way out of where I've ended up. Show me how to balance everything I am trying to do and show me how to be a better wife and mother. And he answered me.
It's so beautiful, God's love for us and in return our love for one another as friends, family and those we hold dear. I am so thankful for Victoria's kindness towards me and the offer to help me begin my journey.
I feel as though today something inside of me changed. I'm excited to fix the things that have been bugging me. I even made a list of what I want to accomplish and when I want to accomplish it by.
Then I packed up my daughter and went to pick up 3 flats of flowers that were on sale at Rite Aid to plant in all my empty pots I found in our back yard. They cost me $5.00. It was the best $5.00 I ever spent and it wasn't even on scrappy stuff!

I did create some beautiful things this week in my studio which is now clean! I mean really clean and de-cluttered and so is my kitchen. Yes fellow Fly ladies...my sink is shined too! OK I'll stop now and shift to something crafty.

Here's a box from the $ bin at Michaels I altered with some Prima goodies. It started out like this...

And I made it look like this

Ohhh I love Prima anything and this collection, Flight of Fancy is my most favorite ever!

Here's a closer look. Now creating this box was fast and easy. I only cover the top cvr with patterned paper and use Tim Holtz white crackle paint to paint the front and sides. I sed my heat tool to dry the paint for the distressed look we've all seen Tim create before. Then I used distress inks an my blending tool to go over the box to give it a old look. I then cut the center out of a doily and folded it and placed the Prima rose in the center. Applied the Prim pearl accent from their eline and secured the rose with a glue dot. Then I covered the knob with a button and a rhinestone for the center of the button.

And finally here is a travel journal I created with Japanese Masking tape for the Love My Tapes blog.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I didn't get to scrap much at all for National scrapbook Day but I did create this layout using Hero Arts stamps. Of course I could not complete it in time to post in the Hero Flickr group for the contest but it was fun to incorporate stamps into a layout.

Here's a closer look at the flowers I stamped and cut out

That's it for today. I hope you are having a great Tuesday. Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today! I really do appreciate and love to read your comments.
